Kennington Commercial Earns Richardson Community Award

Campbell Creative Center Improvements Cited for Community Revitalization

February 22, 2022 – DALLAS, TX – Kennington Commercial, a family-owned real estate investment and management firm located in Dallas, Texas, has earned a 2021 Community Revitalization Award by the Richardson City Council. The honor was awarded during the February 21 City Council meeting for the enhancements done to Kennington Commercial’s Campbell Creative Center investment property. Clayton Kennington, principal with Kennington Commercial, accepted the award on the project participant’s behalf.

The Community Revitalization Award was established in 1994 by the Richardson City Council to recognize property owners who enhance the community by making significant exterior improvements to properties that, in turn, have a positive impact on the surrounding area. Campbell Creative Center was updated with a series of appearance enhancements designed by GFF Architects including improved landscaping and site amenities, updated signage, colorful landscape walls, and improved seating and gathering areas for tenants.

“Our team put a lot of effort into repositioning the Campbell Creative Center from its original 1980s office-flex look to something that will remain cool and relevant for decades to come,” says Mr. Kennington. “Thanks to the vision of GFF Architects and their creative and functional design, we were able to keep some of the original infrastructure while adding a layer of ideal functionality for tenants addressing the post-COVID work environment.”

“Through these renovations and improvements, Kennington Commercial hopes to attract more corporate office and flex or creative office users to the development,” says Scott Kanaga, AIA, associate principal and studio director at GFF.

Kennington Commercial acquired Campbell Creative Center, located at 1200 & 1210 E. Campbell Road and 1217 & 1219 Digital Drive in Richardson, in 2002. The properties, totaling 96,991 square feet, have experienced an increase in occupancy from 21% to 77% since the renovations.
